Dennis, Every firearm is different. Shooters and situations are different. Whatever self defense loads you decide to use, shoot about 200 rounds of that specific round through your firearm to make sure there are no bobbles. Also with holsters, you have to decide inside waistband, outside waistband, shoulder carry, pocket carry etc. Most of all with your carry ammo being dependable, shoot what you can get easily and not be out of. Most shooters use hollow points for self defense. Others use round nose or hard core rounds. For me to tell you what is best is crazy. I can tell you what I use. Remington 115 gr and Winchester 147 gr jacketed hollow points, Hornady XTP Extreme Terminal Performance 124 gr, Sig Elite Performance or V-Crown 115, 124, and 147 gr. With over 70 handguns I have found what works best with each one and have all these rounds in my ammo safe. Lot of shooters swear by Federal Hydra-Shock hollow points in all weights for self defense.
