I like the 270 for whitetail deer but its hard to knock the .308

Ben, a 30 Cal would be the most versatile but, the 270 is plenty cartridge if whitetail and small boars are your main quarry. I would vote 270 in your case as they will be just as dead with lower recoil across the board.

Ben - let me ask you something. Which caliber of ammo does pretty much EVERY store ALWAYS have in stock? Yep ... .308. That should be your guide.

Rick that's funny I don't own a 308 but do have a 30-06 and a 270 and have never had any issue getting ammo
