This only weighs 6 pounds so the recoil will be a little heavier then your typical trap gun, but if that doesn't bother you then yes it would make a fine trap gun. The choke is not fixed, they are interchangeable, and included in the box are 5 Choke Tubes - F,IM,M,IC,C
