Michael, this is a yes to both questions Sir, but riding the safety is not a recommended method for shooting. If you have a specific need for this then you certainly can. Cheers and stay safe!

Michael, I have the 365xl with manual thumb safety and yes it is just big enough to rest your thumb on. At first it was a little stiff to engage/disengage but after using it awhile it has gotten alot smoother. Now I can easily manipulate it with my thumb. Hope this helps.

Probably best to look at one in a shop to decide that. Everyone's hands are different. I can't use the safety on mine for a ledge, it's designed to be slim for carry.
