Hornady 5.56 NATO 62-grain TAP Barrier ammunition is designed for duty use in rifles chambered specifically for 5.56 NATO. Its soft point projectile is engineered to maintain structural integrity when passing through common barriers while still initiating expansion in soft tissue. From a 16-inch barrel, the load produces a published muzzle velocity of 2,910 feet / second, with a ballistic coefficient of .264. This ammunition must not be used in firearms chambered for .223 Remington.
