Built from scratch at CZ Custom, the CZ A01-SD is a competition-focused evolution of the Shadow series. Its hammer-forged, CNC-machined, blued steel frame delivers a stable platform, while the short dustcover shifts balance closer to the hand for fast target transitions. Classic CZ 75 ergonomics combine with a deep beavertail, undercut trigger guard, raised 25 LPI checkering, and an internal magwell. The DA/SA trigger system, 5-inch cold hammer-forged barrel, fiber optic front sight, and fixed rear sight provide a practical combination for competitive shooting.

Bought this A01-SD for...
Bought this A01-SD for USPSA Carry Optics. At first I was concerned if I made the right decision as a lot of the competition has full dust cover frames and this one is more like earlier CZ Shadow series with short dust covers. After shooting 200 rounds without one failure, I am extremely confident with using this for my new competition pistol. This pistol has perfect balance and feels right in your hand, not muzzle heavy like the usual SP-01 based pistols. Recoil is almost non-existent with Federal Syntech 124's. The CZ Custom trigger is amazing, allowing the gun to shoot tiny groups while transitioning between targets. Hitting the uspsa target A zone at 35 yards was a snap even without support. The optics plate is secured by two screws as well as pinned down through the extractor, making it very sturdy for mounting a red dot. The A01 uses P-09 mags but I had lots of CZ-75 mags, so I installed cz custom conversion grips that allows using standard CZ-75 mags.This is one of the best pistols out there. In summary you won't be disappointed if you purchase the A01-SD.
