I'm not a 1911 expert...
I'm not a 1911 expert by any means (I only own two including this one, the other is a Ruger), but this Kimber is quite exceptional. The first thing I noticed after purchasing this gun was the frame to slide fit. It has no play at all and while some claim that tolerances this tight can lead to malfunctions when the gun is dirty, I haven't experienced them myself (I have only shot 400 rounds through it, FMJ and HP's, so take that for what it's worth). I will add though, that I've only shot brass cased ammo through this pistol. I can't say for sure if it would still function as well with steel cased rounds. I don't have anything against commie ammo, but shooting it through something as American as a 1911 just seems offensive ;). Also, the accuracy of this pistol is quite impressive. I can hit a 2/3 sized steel silhouette at 50 yards all day long with this thing. I believe this is mainly due to its extremely nice, crisp trigger. The factory sights are also great and they have tritium inserts, which is always a plus. I've also used this pistol with 10 round mags from Kimber and Chip McCormick, both of which worked fine. On that same note, I am aware that many claim that the Kimber mags are inferior but I honestly don't know why. The mag included with this pistol and the 10 rounder I bought function flawlessly in both of my 1911's (the same can be said of my five Ruger mags FYI). Maybe I've just been lucky, but that has been my experience. However, this brings me to my one complaint about this gun. Mine only shipped with one magazine, and at this price point that is a little disappointing. I don't mind paying premium prices for premium firearms but it would be nice for the gun to come with at least two mags. In any case, if you are looking for a premium level 1911 that won't completely break the bank, I think the Kimber TLE/RL II is an option that you should consider.
