Its forged stainless steel frame and slide provide a durable foundation, while the 5-inch stainless steel barrel is machined from billet and finished with an 11-degree target crown. A dual recoil spring system, GI-style guide rod, and barrel bushing support reliable cycling. VZ G10 grips provide a secure, textured hold, and Novak Tritium sights offer a visible aiming reference in low-light conditions. The pistol also features an ambidextrous manual safety, beavertail grip safety, machined tool-steel sear and disconnector, stainless steel hammer, and nitride-coated titanium firing pin.

I have noticed this...
I have noticed this pistol has quite a bit of barrel "squat" , that is the barrel moves down quite a bit with thumb pressure while in battery. I have 3 other 1911's made by 2 different manufacturers and the barrels absolutely will not move while in battery. I sent it back to savage with a letter explaining the issue. They returned it to me in a timely manner but it still has the problem insent it in for. I guess I can not recommend this brand to anyone.

I recently purchased...
I recently purchased one of these. Nice gun, I put 3 boxes through it with wilson magazines and had 0 malfunctions. The only complaints that I have is there was a burr left on the rear of the frame at the slide rail. Also, I tried to order extra recoil springs and after a lengthy time on hold savage would not sell them to me, I was told a dealer would have to order them. Buds was flawless.
