The Desert Eagle is a...
The Desert Eagle is a novelty at best. It's a fun canon to pull out at the range, and everyone wants to fire it once, and only once. I bought it in .44 and added a .50 AE barrel later. With the compensator installed it feels like the .44. This is by no means a defensive gun. Personally I would get the S&W 500 due to the reliability and accuracy. Whatever you do, do not buy 3rd party magazines for this thing, otherwise expect more than the usual ftf issues. And keep it wet. It may sound like I'm putting it down, but I really enjoy the DE. I bought it knowing of it's issues. I'm a collector and it was something I always wanted after firing the mark VII years before buying the XIX. This was the first gun I bought from Buds and they are extremely easy to work with and have a great selection.
