Very nice pistol. Only been to the range once. It sometimes does not push the next round all the way into the chamber. I hope further use and cleaning will break in this pistol and resolve this problem.

I've been searching...
I've been searching for a well made government size 1911 chambered in 40 S&W, took a gamble on this Remington Limited, and am very pleased with my purchase. First, the un-boxing at the FFL had the boys drooling over the black finish on the pistol and I must admit it is a real beauty. Remington's black PVD finish was flawlessly applied and I consider it to be visually on par with the duty finish on my DW Valkyrie commander. I am also very impressed with the fit - no rattles, gaps, or mis-matched parts, with a very smooth slide glide and positive thumb safety. Overall it has the look, feel, and sound of a very well made pistol. I put 150 rounds of Federal American Eagle 180 grain FMJ through the pistol on my first outing and experienced three failures to go completely into battery using the two factory (mec-gar) mags. However, this pistol performed perfectly during that same outing using three after market (Cobra) mags I purchased. The pistol shot slightly high out of the box but one click with the adjustable sites and it's on-target. The grips are a little thicker than I like and have a very aggressive texture. However the aggressive texture does seem appropriate for this rather snappy caliber. I own several 1911s and this is my first Remington. I am really impressed with with this pistol and will consider purchasing an R1 carry commander in 45 acp the next time the good people at Bud's has a sale.
