The Springfield Armory 1911 EMP is a compact single-action pistol designed specifically around the 9mm cartridge. Its shortened 1911 dimensions provide a smaller grip radius and a comfortable, controllable shooting experience while retaining the familiar handling characteristics of the classic platform. The forged aluminum alloy frame keeps weight manageable, while the forged stainless steel slide provides a durable satin-finished upper assembly. A match-grade, fully supported and ramped 3-inch barrel supports reliable performance, and low-profile combat 3-dot tritium sights provide a clear aiming reference in changing light. The pistol also features a long lightweight trigger, ambidextrous manual thumb safety, grip safety, G10 grips, and a dual-spring recoil system with a full-length guide rod.

This has been my CCW...
This has been my CCW gun for quite a while. Never had to draw it on anybody. I really like the G10 grips and think it's too bad Springfield stopped offering them. The only malfunctions I have had I blame on running the gun too dry. Keep it lubed and it runs like a top.

Overall, I like it. I have small hands so this is the first 1911 style that I tried that fits me. I had gotten it for an everyday carry but because of the "ammo loader ramp" issue it cannot handle anything but ball ammo. Had I known about that, I would not have purchased.
