Product Overview
The Beretta Manurhin MR73 Sport is a premium double-action revolver chambered for .357 Mag and .38 Special. Developed from the Manurhin design selected by French police and specialized units, the MR73 is built for demanding service and intensive training. Its cylinder is machined from forged, ordnance-certified steel, while impact-finished chambers promote smooth extraction and long-term durability. Master gunsmiths hand-fit, polish, and adjust the action, helping produce the revolver's exceptionally smooth trigger pull. The 5.25-inch barrel, adjustable rear sight, checkered walnut grip, and blued finish create a balanced platform for precision target shooting and serious field use. Each revolver is factory-tested for accuracy before release.

The MR73 is very...
The MR73 is very solidly built, and the fit and finish is as good as you will find on any revolver, including old Pythons, registered Magnums, or Korth revolvers. It is interesting that in a number of respects the gun resembles older Smith & Wesson revolvers. The cylinder release is similar, the lock-up method is also similar to the Smiths. The Hammer Nose type firing pin structure is also used on the MR73, and it appears that the barrel is pinned, also similar to older model Smiths. The lock-up is very tight, and the action is smooth, and adjustable. The weight is about 37 oz, so it is a medium gun, noticeably lighter than a 4 1/4" new model Python, or 4" 586 classic. The sport model has rubber target style grips which are comfortable, but with the mirror finish on the gun, high end hardwood type grips would improve the overall looks. This gun was first developed in the 70's and seemed to take a number of its traits from then manufactured Pythons [full underlug], and Smiths. Overall, a very solid great looking .357. Cost seems to vary wildly as Berretta limits its imports to available production and large National dealers, such as Buds. I gave the gun 5 stars based on its construction and fit and finish. If however, factoring in cost relative to a new Python or 586 Classic, the score would have to be lower, as the MR73 is in Korth territory, and ultimately most modern .357's produced by the larger makers will get the job done. The MR73 is a standout .357 handgun, that does appear to have retained the same manufacturing quality and detail as the early versions of the gun enjoyed.

This is a beautiful...
This is a beautiful revolver with the deepest and nicest bluing of any gun in my collection. I can find no flaws in the bluing whatsoever. I'll be polishing off finger prints forever. Trigger is very smooth and consistent with no detectable uptake and breaks nicely. No stacking of the trigger (the physics of the Manurhin trigger spring is an interesting read). Double action is light out of the box, but single action was a bit heavier than I expected. This can be adjusted. The trigger has continued to improve as I dry fire and put rounds through it. The serrated trigger is not to my taste, and has chewed up my pansy finger-tip somewhat, but I know some people like a serrated trigger face. Love the Trausch grips; they give a nice, comfortable, high purchase on the revolver. This gun feels light compared to most of my S&W and Ruger revolvers of similar size. Recoil with magnum rounds is snappier than expected, but I guess that is expected with the obvious reduction in weight. Accuracy seems good, but I have only shot free-hand so far. This is an expensive revolver and worth every dang penny in my opinion.
