A: If you learn how to properly load them and then unload the cases without bending them they will last for years. There are tools available for loading moon clips. If they bend even a little you'll get light strikes and sometimes if severe enough it will bind the cylinder.

A: No. The cartridge case headspaces on the moon clips which holds it so the firing pin can set off the primer. If you fire it without the clips the case will just move forward away from the firing pin as it strikes it and probably will not fire.

A: Ruger response from when I asked them your question. "From what I understand the case on the 9x21 cartridge is longer than the standard 9mm cartridge. I would not use it in the SP101 revolver.
