A: check your local game laws as many states do not allow a 223 for Deer hunting. other than that I agree with james on bullets and scope but I feel that it is better to use a more suited caliber out of fear of wounding and not killing a animal

A: yes it is labeled as a 5.56 which can also shoot .223 ammo the .223 is a slightly less powerful round and is safe to shoot in 5.56 however 5.56 is not safe in a gun marked .223
