The Chiappa Firearms M1-9 Carbine combines the familiar handling and appearance of the USGI M1 Carbine with the economical and widely available 9mm cartridge. Its straight blowback action provides reliable operation and straightforward maintenance, while the 19-inch barrel and compact 36-inch overall length make it practical for range use and recreational shooting. A wood stock, blued receiver and barrel, fixed military-style front sight, and adjustable military-style rear sight complete the classic carbine configuration. The rifle accepts Beretta 92-pattern magazines and includes two magazines.

I was surprised how...
I was surprised how smooth operating M1-9 was. It operated flawlessly for me with the initial 150 rounds. Still will need to do more testing with different brands of ammo but so far so good. Although it is touted as a range toy, plinker, it could be pressed into a nice little truck gun, PCC role. I used after market 18 round Beretta 92 magazines with it and they ran just fine and was accurate for what it was intended to be a PDW/PCC. My only quip is the rear sight which is easy to adjust for windage and elevation, but the ghost ring rear site aperture which can be manipulated on a incline with detents for elevation adjustment, if you not careful, can be easily pulled off of the rear site, and you can lose the small detent spring. It's almost impossible to find and replace, but the saving grace is when I called Chiappa customer service, they sent a replacement rear sight out at no charge immediately-no hesitation and no fuss. The helpful customer service representative said that those detent springs were so hard to install that they just sent a whole new sight apparatus instead. It would be less authentic looking but I think a little stop at the rear of the sight would be helpful, but at least the customer service is solid. Enjoy the firearm and its a lot cheaper to shoot than .30 Carbine which now costs "an arm and a leg."

I am very happy with...
I am very happy with my purchase, the rifle works perfectly and I had no problems. The only issue was that it came with 10-round capacity magazines (which I solved by removing the stud inside the magazine that prevents increasing capacity, now each one holds 16 rounds). Another thing I noticed is that it shoots a bit low (which I also resolved by filing down the front sight). The carbine is a great option; instead of buying a real one, you can have the same carbine that fires 9mm, which is cheaper. Chiappa could have done a better job on the design by creating magazines that looked the same as real 30 cal magazines; that is my only negative review.
