The CZ 457 Varmint MTR is a precision-oriented bolt-action rimfire rifle built around a heavy carbon steel barrel and a tight match chamber. years ago i had a 452 that would shoot lights out. Got into match benchrest shooting recently and me and my brother both bought an MTR after all the good reviews and figured it would be what we needed. Needless to say neither one of ours would shoot consistent groups using top tier ammo. Lapua center x, SK long range match, and trying many others. I stripped mine down to clean and check torque on every screw. upon loosening barrel grub screws my barrel was a sloppy fit and would fall right out without any resistance at all. I think cz tolorances are getting too great on the new rifles and should do better QC. By the way i have a bergara bmr x that shoots .3's and .4 inch groups and can get .2's with lapua center x. My brother traded his for a tikka t1x and he couldn't be happier. Everyone at our local gun club match shoots say CZ is a big lottery gamble on their barrels. if your lucky you will get one that shoots.
