So far, I am...
So far, I am thoroughly pleased with this rifle. Although I have fired several ARs, this the first one I have purchased for myself. When setting out for this, I have kicked the idea around for quite some time (probably two years now), scanning through countless websites, products, and Youtube videos. I actually stumbled upon this one from Diamondback on a different website. It was very hard to find product reviews for it, and there were very minimal videos to be found either. Doing some more searching, I found this on Buds. Very quick shipping and easy process, even during this pandemic madness. \r \r Some things that stuck out to me:\r - Full length, M-lok hand guard rather than the half length plastic/polymer types that I typically see on rifles at this price point. Very good quality and sturdy, in addition to just a good looking design. While I do wish the Picatinny could have extended just a bit farther, I am still a fan of the design.\r - Magpul MOE furniture. The grip and stock were definite selling points for me. Looking at many ARs that I considered buying, I had already dealt with the fact that I would end up switching out things such at the hand guard and stock. This Diamondback came in a state that was already what I pictured in my mind, without having to swap out pieces on a new rifle, driving up the price point. Even comes with a Magpul PMag instead of the typical metal magazine that accompanies a lot of new rifles.\r - Magpul MBUS sights. I love that this rifle came with these. You can order the same rifle with everything except these backup sights, but I would not recommend it. To order it with them will save you around $60-70 over buying them separately. They are a fantastic thing to already have on the rifle and not have to order. I was wanting pop sights rather than fixed sights. On this rifle, I knew the build design that I was going for, and the fixed front sight at the gas block was not in plans for that. This rifle provided what I was looking for in this area. The front sight is going to be slightly difficult to slide over the front section of the Picatinny rail, but hey, at least you know it won't be moving on you when you don't want it to.\r - Weight. This rifle is overall much lighter than most others that I have had the opportunity to shoot. There is a major difference between this and my father's Rock River AR, so I was pleased to see that.\r - Price. I am putting this last because this rifle comes fitted out with much better furniture and features than most rifles do at this price point (all listed above). Additionally, I 1) had actually heard of this company before (unlike many others at this price range) and 2) have heard good feedback from their work over the last few years. For myself, I am still your typical broke college kid; so, dishing out $1200 dollars is not something on my radar. \r \r So far, I am thoroughly pleased with this purchase and my experience with Buds. I will attempt to update this review when I have been able to spend time at the range, but that is not as easy as it used to be. Hopefully, all of this COVID ordeal will be over soon.
