Description
Product Overview
The Remington Model 597 is a semi-automatic rimfire rifle chambered in .22 WMR and configured with a 20-inch barrel. Its proprietary bolt-guidance system uses twin tool-steel guide rails to support smooth cycling, reliable feeding, and consistent accuracy. A barrel attachment clamp helps maintain positive lock-up, while nickel-Teflon plating on the bolt, hammer, and sear promotes durable, low-friction operation. The rifle features a black synthetic stock, adjustable front and rear iron sights, and a receiver that is grooved for standard rimfire rings and drilled and tapped for compatible scope bases.

Upon opening the box,...
Upon opening the box, removing the gun and cocking it, the broken top of the ejector fell out on the floor. . . Uuuhh? Well after contacting Remington, it was simpler & faster to just order a new ejector for about $4.50. It only took about a week to get the part (Good Omen) and about 10 minutes to install it. After that, I mounted a scope and "sighted it in". This was a dream to shoot and very accurate to 100 yards, all-be-it not much more than a Varmit gun, but a good one!

Seems Remington has...
Seems Remington has once again discontinued the 597 22 WMR as have other manufactures. Reason is they have been ammo picky. This one didn't like one ammo brand one little bit. Premature blow back extraction blew out the magazine, and destroyed same. Silly me tried again with repeat performance. Switched ammo then no problem This was old stock that was noticeably hotter when compared to other brands in revolver. Bottom line. Great gun just be ammo selective and test fire each ammo lot with magazine removed after loading, then keep body parts and loved ones clear of the magazine well.
