After reading reams of...
After reading reams of negative reviews, I took the plunge on this and am not disappointed. The first range session produced half-inch five-shot groups at 100 yds (9.0 gr 296, Rem 45 gr HP). Much of the bad publicity probably came from the early rifles, which had clamped rather than threaded barrels. There were earlier extraction problems as well. Ruger seems to have worked these out. I did add a Wolff spring to the trigger group, but that is usually a given with Rugers. If the price doesn't scare you, and you are looking for a good shooting Hornet, go for it. The one I got is sweet.
