The Colt Wiley Clapp Government TALO Exclusive is a full-size .45 ACP 1911 designed as a practical fighting pistol. Its classic Series 70 operating system is paired with a five-inch barrel, a Commander-style hammer, rear-only slide serrations, and a GI-style guide rod and plug. A checkered front strap and special oval-shaped wood laminate grips provide a secure, distinctive hold. The sighting system combines a gold bead front sight with a plain black Novak rear sight for a clear, practical sight picture. A beavertail grip safety and right-hand-only thumb safety complete the traditional 1911 controls.

The iconic Colt 45...
The iconic Colt 45 with some great extras. The features that I liked the most were the beavertail grip, commander hammer, model specific grips that are thin in the front, bead front sight. Reliable as always.

This was my first 1911...
This was my first 1911 purchase and I'm extremely happy with this Colt. Bud's delivered the gun quickly and as advertised. I have enjoyed the Wiley Clapp styling on this pistol. But as with many 1911 owners one is not enough. I bought a second 1911 from Bud's from a custom gun manufacturer for double the price of the Colt. After the break-in period of the custom gun I compared the two 1911 pistols side by side. To my touch and feel the Colt measured up extremely well to the much more expensive gun. I did not use a bench rest to judge any difference in accuracy, but the Colt shoots as accurately as the custom pistol in my hands. The only difference I can tell is that the trigger pull on the Colt I'd estimate to be around 4.5 lbs while on the custom gun I'd estimate it to be 3.5 lbs. These are not estimated measurements, but the custom gun's trigger is almost too light and the Colt's trigger would be nice if it were just a little lighter. I plan to put another 500 rounds through the Colt and see if it breaks in further and the trigger pull improves. Overall, I feel this Colt 1911 Wiley Clapp pistol is a very good purchase and I've had a fine time shooting it.
