I am quite pleased...
I am quite pleased with this "combo" RIA TAC Ultra -- is has been flawless.., no FTF, or FTE, with either caliber. One difficulty was in learning an alternative to disassembling this 19! style gun. There is a two-piece full-length guide rod that is made up of the longer rod and the barrel plate -- the rod itself is one-piece. The problem is that after having fired it about 50rds, the rod portion loosens out of the barrel-guide plate a bit. The problem that causes comes when trying to disassemble the gun for cleaning. When loosened after firing, the guide-rop extends out the nose just enough to prevent the barrel latch from turning far enough to release the coil spring cap and spring. The solution was simple actually. Just align the cross-shaft pin as you would when the spring pressure was "normally" removed! the cross-shaft pin simply comes out very easily and then the slide slips right off, and then you can easily access the rod and spring. I used a strong LOCTITE formula to secure the thread on the two-piece rod and the problem of the rod loosening is gone. Even then, I now do not bother with the barrel release to start the disassembly process... I go straight to FIRST aligning the cross-shaft and slide notch, and the cross-shaft slips out easily. I definitely would buy this firearm again!

When this handgun...
When this handgun first arrived, I refused the FFL transfer because the magazine catch was completely inoperative. It was returned to Bud's for a new replacement, which took somewhat longer to receive than expected. It was worth the wait... The 1st 100+ 9mm rounds have been flawless, not a single malfunction, and I used various bullet weights and loads. I have yet to be able to fire it as a TCM pistol because of the 2,000 fps velocity of the TCM bullets (40gr in this case) -- the range I typically use will not allow anything over 1750 fps on their range. However, I have absolutely no concern that when I do get to use the combo-TCM barrel, it will also be perfectly fine. The gun is heavy, stout and the fit and finish are superb. Sights needed a bit of adjusting but not a problem there either. Buyin the TCM ammo is not as easy as for other calibers, but, I was able to find more than enough to stock up with. My one GREAT gripe is that all the guns I've bought from RIA come with only one magazine, and added magazines are not inexpensive. Would I recommend this firearm and would I buy it again? Yes.., but be forewarned, before you allow the FFL transfer to go through, inspect it very carefully!\r \r I l
