Product Overview
The Springfield Armory Range Officer Compact is a 9mm 1911 designed for practical carry and range use. Its forged aluminum alloy frame keeps the pistol lightweight, while the forged carbon steel slide receives a durable black Parkerized finish. The four-inch stainless steel match-grade bull barrel uses a fully supported ramp for reliable cartridge support and consistent performance. A fiber optic front sight pairs with a low-profile combat rear sight for fast target acquisition, and the traditional 1911 manual thumb safety and grip safety provide familiar handling. Double-diamond Rosewood grips complete the classic appearance, while the dual recoil spring and full-length guide rod support smooth cycling.

Awesome! This weapon...
Awesome! This weapon is perfect for conceal carry. It is not too heavy but is stout enough in your hands when firing. This weapon has a crisp and light trigger pull. 3 1/2 pound pull. It is just a junior size Of the full size Range Officer. The only thing that I would do different is a little thicker hand grip. Not a real bad problem because the front to back size makes for a great grip. I do have large hands. All in all I would purchase this Gun over and over. Service from Buds is awesome.

Was looking for a more...
Was looking for a more compact 1911 for carry, so when this one showed up on the 180 layaway list I took a chance on it. I am not a fan of shooting 45 through a lightweight frame, so the Range Officer Compact in 9mm was just the ticket. Overall I have few complaints. Arrived quickly and in great condition. Comes with 2 flush fitting 8 round magazines, and I have since picked up several 9 round magazines. I've put 250 rounds through it without malfunction on the gun's fault (had a couple from some old mags with weak springs). For the most part it shoots well, and is accurate and reliable. Despite the lightweight aluminum frame it still has enough weight to it to make it a fairly soft shooter. I do have some complaints though to keep in mind, though they're mostly minor. With mine the slide almost never locks open while shooting. I'm not sure if this is a mag issue or if the slide lock is still stiff from being new. On the first range session the fiber optic pipe in the front sight fell out, though its pretty easy to replace with the included extra pipes. And while it has no affect on function or reliability, I am not a fan of the bushingless guide rod design. It requires a tool (basically a small allen wrench) to disassemble by putting it in a small hole in the guide rod that takes tension off of the recoil spring to allow the guide rod and spring to be removed from the slide. I know this design is common in the bull barrel 1911's, but I am really not a fan of having to have a tool for field stripping. Still, its a nice shooter and I have had no issues carrying it, my only complaints being mostly personal preference. Will leave it 4 stars, but realistically its more like 4.0-4.5 star in my mind.

This is my second time...
This is my second time dealing with buds and it was good. It took about 5 business days to recieve this gun. About the gun itself, I shot 80-100 rounds with no failures. It did shoot 2-3 inches high (and I was using a 6 o'clock hold.) I really like this little gun aside from the sights being off a little high, the groups I shot were fantastic. I sent it back to Springfield to have the sights adjusted and a few other things smoothed out. These guns seem to be hit and miss with sights being dead on and a few other issues you can find out about if you you google them and read the forums. I'll put it like this, you can spend $800 on this gun and may have to send it in for warrenty if something is not right like I did, or you can spend 2x or 3x the price and buy from a high end manufacturer.
