The Springfield Armory M1A Scout Squad combines the proven M1A operating system with a compact 18-inch barrel and a forward-mounted scout optical sight base. Chambered for .308 Win and 7.62x51 NATO, it offers a 20-round capacity, quick handling, and unobstructed access to the receiver. The American walnut stock provides a traditional rifle profile, while the Parkerized barrel, proprietary muzzle stabilizer, National Match front sight, and adjustable military aperture rear sight support dependable field use. The two-stage military trigger is specified at 5 to 6 pounds. Optics are not included.

Buds, without a doubt,...
Buds, without a doubt, is one of the best gun dealers in the country. I asked for an alert when this rifle was back in stock and I did receive that alert. I use to drive to Buds in Lexington and my friends and I just made a day of it. Drive down, look at guns and grab lunch. I do not so that any longer because the in-store customer service is horrible. Understaffed and when you do finally get waited on, they act like you are putting them out. That's been my experience the last 5-6 times I've gone. I have purchase a lot of stuff from Buds, not just firearms. This time I ordered online and had it shipped to my FFL. The online process was easy and I got what I ordered. I did think it took a long time for the rifle to ship but over all it was good. I love Buds gun selection, I love Buds accessories selection, and I love Buds prices. And I think I'm not alone there. I just think as a company they may know that they are loved and have good price points and as such they put very little emphasis on actual customer service. I hope they get better, I've been buying from Buds since they were in Paris.

I have wanted a M1A...
I have wanted a M1A for at least the past 15 years. When I finally decided it was time for one I was torn between the scout and the loaded. I'm glad I went with scout. It's just the right size and is a blast on the range. It is a little ruff on the people standing near you, but not overly punishing to the shooter. Checkmate Industries are the magazines you want to feed it with. They are the current suppliers of the military.
