Ruger AR-556 MPR 450 Bushmaster Semi Auto Rifle - Blue/Black, 5+1 Rounds, Synthetic

Thanks again Bud’s for offering the 450 Bushmaster version. This thing has turned out to be a Beast! The stock mags work fine, but getting the Lancer mags, changing the followers and clearance the front of the mag, makes this thing a Hog Harvesting BEAST! Incredibly fun to shoot. All the power of 45-70 in an AR platform! Thanks for having it in stock, and as always Bud’s shipped quickly and the box was in perfect condition. I’ll be back for more deals for sure! Bud’s service was great. The rifle does have some feeding issues. I know my way around a gun but I am no gunsmith. During the first 15 rounds though the rifle, I experienced 4-5 failures to fully feed. The round would feed only about 7/8s of the way in. I switched between 250gr Hornady/Winchester loads and 300gr Federal loads, and after about 25 rounds the issues stopped. I have now put about 60 rounds through the rifle and only experienced this one additional time. The accuracy has been fantastic shooting 1.5 MOA with all loads at 100yds off of a sandbag and a Leupold 1.5-4x scope. Took the rifle hunting in Texas Hill Country and it is light and handy. Dropped a 120B&C 6 year old in his tracks. However, an Aoudad ewe ran 100 yards with a double lung shot. I love the rifle and the thump, just wish it had a bigger mag capacity and better feeding.

This is a great gun. Can't wait to take it hunting at the end of the month.

Sevice and price from Buds top notch. Weapon is a paperweight. Tried 3 different mags and ammo. Rifle will not function at all. Will not feed,chamber or eject. Sending back to ruger and will update later.

Buds was great, but rifle is a dud, out of the box. Picked up from my FFL yesterday. Took it apart to clean and lube today. Got the bolt carrier group out and took out the firing pin retaining pin, and firing pin, no problem. Pushed the bolt in, so I could rotate the cam pin to remove it... The bolt was very difficult to push in to begin with. When the bolt appeared to be completely at the rear, the cam pin, would not rotate at all. I soaked it in Rem-oil and had to work it for about 20 minutes before I was able to get it rotated and removed (with pliers--and a t-shirt protecting the cam pin. I cleaned and lubed up all the parts, but when I go to put the assembled bolt back in, it barely wants to go in, and the bolt feels like it drags. Additionally, the cam pin will not go back into the bolt. It fits when the bolt is out of the bolt carrier, but as soon as I insert it the bolt into the bolt carrier, it's as if it is sticking on something. Packaged it up and sending it to Ruger to look at. Hopefully, they just replace the bolt altogether.

The gun is great I love everything about it except the mag the magazine that came with it sucks I have tried different ammo and it doesn't wanna chamber the round in all the way because the bolt catches on the round in the mag as a round is 3/4 of the way in so I have to take the mag out to fully chamber a round in.

This thing has been one headache after another!!! Do not buy this firearm unless you are very experienced with the AR Platform. The magazine and feed problems have been endless and the gas block became loose and moved about a half an inch after 5 rounds. But Ruger has sent me a replacement magazine and a spare extractor for the firearm and offered for me to send them the firearm if I could not get it running right. All together I have about 12 hours in trouble shooting on this weapon but I finally have it running excellent.

Very happy with the quality when opening the box. Fist time shooting had some feeding issues due to the magazine. This is common with most 450 bushmaster ar's. I purchaced aftermarket mags prior to getting the rifle that solved this problem. The lancer mags and followers from tromix are supposed to be the best, and work great for me.
