BUCK 124 FRONTIERSMAN 6.25"

I like Buck Knives. The vast majority are Made in the USA. That fact gives my loyalty to Buck all by itself. I own several. The Buck Frontiersman is Made in the USA. Bud's Gun Shop has absolutely the BEST PRICE on this knife anywhere on the web! Kudo's to Bud's! This is a pretty nice Bowie type knife. The blade is 6 5/8" long from the front of the hilt to the tip. It's a heavy blade. 3/8" thick by my measurement. The knife is heavy and I like a knife with some heft to it. The handle is micarta with stainless crow's beak butt cap and bolsters. It's a really pretty knife. Heavy stainless double hilt as well. The sheath is well built, but I don't like how it snaps. The sheath snaps at the rear of the handle, above the double hilt. That means this knife isn't coming out of the sheath easily and that's good. However, it also means that you have to be careful when taking the knife out of the sheath so as to not cut the leather closure. The blade is sharp and quite nicely polished, though not polished absolutely cleanly. There are a lot of grind marks on the edge of the blade. The one detractor to this knife is the handle. It's a micarta handle, which is a plus. However, it's really quite square. Not very rounded. It has some "soft" finger grooves on the underside which is a nice touch, but they do not give you a lot to hold on to. As I said, the handle is quite square. It's very smooth and I think it's going to be hard to hold onto under heavy use, which is what this knife is made for. It doesn't fit my hand real well. Having said all that, this is a Buck Knife. If you want a knife Made in the USA that'll give you years and years of service for a reasonable price, Buck is one of two brands I know of that'll do just that. This is a good knife, handle and all.
