5 stars to Bud's, ordered late Sunday night, was at my local dealer on Thursday. The Howa is as advertized - smooth action and built like a tank. For the money you can't go wrong on this rifle - look at the prices on Custom .308's with a heavy barrel. So far I have not shot this rifle, as I'm doing some extra work on it. The Houge stock is nicer than I expected, but like any synthetic stock it has a void in front of the recoil pad. This makes it nose heavy - esp. with a heavy barrel. So I'll pull the recoil pad and fill the void with Acra-Glas with some stainless steel powder mixed in ( both available at Brownells ) This will also add weight and help with the balance and recoil. I like to shoot 100 rounds when at the range and am not a fan of heavy recoil. Add a Leupold 1 pc base ( Rem. 700 LA fits ) and rings and it should be great. Out of the box the rifle gets 5 stars. This gun rocks! I'll not buy another Remington long as I can get my hands on a howa. Fit and finish was perfect, and the trigger is the best production trigger I've squeezed. Broke clean at 2.5 pounds outta the box. The stock has some flex on the end but for the price? I followed the instructions for the barrel break in and after that it was on. Shooting 100 and 200 yards. I was hitting the same hole with hornady ammo. I throw in some cheap steal ammo (Don't even know the name) just to see what would happen same results. This rifle with my swfa 12x42 scope is a shooter. Looking at getting the howa 300 win mag now. Of course buds was awesome like usual.

Bought this howa 1500 308win 20in heavy barrel , from buds gun shop about 4 months ago. This rifle is a tack driver,you are going to love tdhis rifle
