Excellent SAA pistol. Only wish Hogue or Pachmyr would make rubber grips available.

This revolver is a bare-bones, but well functioning revolver. I have put one box of ammo trough it (230 grain, LAX cowboy 45LC loads) and it functioned like a champ. The 45LC 'speaks' with authority, but the loads I was using were very manageable. The finish on this Uberti-built revolver is, well, interesting, is the only way to describe it! It has a matte blue finish that shows no fingerprints (big plus there!) and brass backstrap and trigger guard that are also matte finished (sandblasted?). The hammer, however, has a case hardened look to it, so the combination is a bit unusual. However, I find the function of the revolver just fine. It is not as heavy even as my Cimarron Thunderer (and isn't quite as 'nice'), but it does what it is designed to do: shoot well and on target. This would be my choice of a real packing gun if in the 1800's, it just works, it is not overly flashy and is simple to work on. The cylinder release for the center rod is spring loaded and comes out without much effort. It also will come fully out, so you can clean it or polish it if it ever starts to bind. Be careful that you don't put it in the 2nd position (full in) as that is a 'safety' position and you cannot fire the gun with the rod there. I had no trouble hitting dead center in targets at point of aim at 7 yards (that is 20 feet for those of you who like the larger numbers!) and at 15 yards (45 feet, can I really see that far?). The front sight is simple, but the deep rear sighting groove makes it easy line up, even for those of use with less than perfect eyesight. I "Bary Fife'd" it the first go round (one bullet only) for function test and only stopped shooting it as I had another gun to test and limited range time. In summary: it is a hoot to shoot! And cheap! Get one!

You can NOT beat this fine replica Colt SAA Model P for the price. Uberti does a Great Job. The 2 piece brass backstrap and trigger guard assembly is beautiful once polished - 2 hours with a dremel and Oh Boy does it shine. Little stiff action that hopefully will loosen up once broken in. Very accurate point and shoot. As with ALL Colt SAA, watch out for screws backing out. Do NOT put locktite - I use a little clear fingernail polish (my wife's) to hold the head. Breaks free very easily and cleans up well with acetone. Make the small investment in a quality Colt SAA 3 piece screw driver set - You will need it. MidwayUSA or Brownells.
