First introduced in 2010, the Bushmaster ACR considered to be one of the most innovative breakthroughs of Bushmaster. Bushmasters goal was to produce an incredible rifle that could be configured to suit your taste and style, and steal a number of AR fans away from their “old faithful”. Featuring the 5.56X45mm NATO/.223 and 6.8mm Remington SPC calibers, optional barrel lengths and stock configurations, the Bushmaster ACR can adapt to a variety of different conditions. Even without employing any tools, you can smoothly go from 5.56mm to 6.8mm by switching the bolt head, barrel, and magazine. Along with the availability of stocks, optics, barrels and accessories, it can quickly change from a close quarter’s firearm to a designated marksman platform……... now that makes it a truly versatile rifle! The Bushmaster ACR is indeed one of the greatest innovations in the era of tactical assault rifles.
The ACR was designed essentially for law enforcement and military, but also comes in a standard model which is available for civilian use. It provides unrivaled standards for reliability and accuracy. Its innovations can almost double the barrel life, reduces maintenance significantly, and has in addition incorporated an innovative protective coating. This evolution in coatings has also lessened wear while enhancing operation. Bushmaster ACR also utilized rugged, high density composite for the handguard, lower receiver, and stock to minimize the weight and increase durability. The key feature of the Bushmaster ACR is their gas piston firing system. This system has undergone tight quality control and has proven to handle any weather condition. From the magazine release and fire selector, to the non-reciprocating charging handle, ambidextrous controls helps any shooter to maximize effectiveness. Bushmaster ACR delivers on every aspect of satisfaction, from accuracy, durability, user friendly, but most of all, firepower. Utilizing the magazines from the AR rifle configuration has helped to endear this new rifle to some old school die hards.
Bushmaster is the manufacturer for the civilian model, while Remington has a hand in the military version. This rifle comes in at 7.9-9.8 total weight, depending on how your model is set up. The length can range from 25.8 in. with the M4 type stock collapsed, all the way to 35.8 in. when it is extended (depending on the barrel length you choose). Barrels are available from 10.5 for the military and LEO applications, to 18 inches for the civilian version.
I don’t have one of these yet……….but you can bet that I will.
