Mossberg & Sons 500 12ga 20" Cruiser w/Heat Shield - Blue/Black, 20" Barrel, 6+1 Rounds, 3" Chamber

I recently purchased a Mossberg 500 Cruiser (Serial number V0533588). The gun would not function “right out of the box”. The safety would not fully disengage and the gun would not rack. Since I was already at the range, I asked the gunsmith to look at it. He had to disassemble the gun and “reinstall the elevator assembly” (whatever that is as I am not a gunsmith). There is no way that this gun could have passed any type of quality inspection before leaving the factory. I contacted Mossberg Customer Service (#21725) and informed them of my issue. The customer service manager emailed me several days later and blamed me for the gun not working. Said I had attempted to take the gun apart. Right – I am going to pay several hundred dollars for a gun and take it apart before I even shoot it. The gunsmith had showed me where there was a pin that was not in place that had prevented the safety from disengaging. This was “right out of the box”.

Bought this mostly for home protection also because I had seen this configuration in the military. I have to say, you can't beat it for the money and it's fun to shoot. I would recommend it to anyone looking for shotgun for home protection or a SHTF situation.
