The VP Series is Heckler & Koch's first striker-fired HK since the P7 series pistols introduced in the 1980s. It is well-suited for civilian sport shooting, security, military, and law enforcement use. The VP Series integrates a striker firing system with an enhanced, HK "light pull" trigger. HK's cold hammer-forged barrel made from cannon grade steel ensures long service life, as does the polygonal bore profile which also provides a slight increase in muzzle velocity. Slide releases are present on both sides of the frame, and the paddle-style magazine release can be easily activated by left- or right-handed shooters. A unique VP feature is HK's patented rear-mounted charging supports on each side of the slide provide better gripping leverage for racking the slide rearward. The machined steel slide is protected from corrosion and wear by HK's hostile environment finish and all metal components, including springs and pins have superior metallurgy.
VP SK subcompact models feature a more concealable design with a shorter barrel, abbreviated Picatinny MIL-STD-1913 rail, and a compact grip frame which retains the adjustable VP grip feature of interchangeable backstraps and lateral grip panels.
This model features a gray frame with black slide. It comes equipped with 3-Dot sights and includes one flat base and one extended floorplate 10-round magazine.

I'm new to pistol shooting and have been taking classes at local range. In a recent class, we sampled 18 different semi-auto handguns to compare feel, handling, and preference. When I picked up the HK VP9SK, it felt different in the hand and my first impression was that the sights looked a little different. Once I shot the HK VP9SK, it just felt right in every way. I am most accurate with this gun at all distances. Feels like it was made for me. Ordered one from Buds and was pleased with price and speed of service (my 2nd pistol in 3 months from Buds). Really like the gun and glad that I discovered Buds for online shopping.

Great ergonomics. Between the back straps and side panels, you can mold this thing to fit your hand however you want. The pinky extension mag gives you an even better purchase on the firearm. I wish it added another +2 rounds of capacity; sadly, it does not. There are, however, aftermarket +2 mag extensions that work great. I have around 300-400 rounds through mine so far. Great accuracy and zero malfunctions. I'm not an expert shooter, but the characteristics of the VP9SK and its trigger aid me in punching a ragged hole through the target at 7 yards. Some reviewers haved panned the polymer charging handles - the serrations are very sufficient, but I like the extra purchase on those plastic ears. If you don't like them, you can remove the rear sight and delete them. If you don't mind the grey frame (I like it, myself) and not having tritium night sights, then you'd be pressed to find a better deal than $504 (current price) and free shipping through Buds for a VP9SK. If you need a good sub-compact EDC right out of the box, this is an outstanding option.

Wow! First time handgun owner and purchased the VP9SK as my first. With the interchangeable sides and backstrap I was able to get the perfect feel/grip. Grip texture was also comfortable and not to rough as say an Springfield XDS.Right out of the box I did not have one misfire or jam. Ran 50rds. of Rem.UMC 124gr., 50rds. of AE Syntec 115gr. and 20rds. of AE 124gr. The Remington UMC shot real clean and seemed to leave alot less in the chamber compared to the AE 124gr. Super easy to break down to clean and me being a mutant(lefty) the ambidextrous controls were the key factors on purchasing the VP. The paddle mag. release is also easy to use( Used my middle finger). Overall great shooter, easy controls, great trigger and for first timers(wear ear protection!). First shots were a surprise to the kick of a "little" 9mm. Exactly what I wanted with the gray and black frame! Thank you Buds!
