Let me say, being a Smith guy, I’ve been skeptical of the reintroduced Colt’s. That’s before reading about them watching reviews via videos and the seeing them on sale in a large display case at Bud’s in Lexington. There, I put a Python Elite on lay away and paid it off a month ago. Since then, I’ve shot around 400 rounds with it. Both .38 and .357. And it shoots really well. The 148 gr .38 wadcutters from DoubleTap are unbelievably accurate and are fun to shoot. These new Colts are exceptional guns - this from a Smith guy.

fast delivery. No marks or blemishes. Fantastic feeling, the weight action and smoothness of it. Wow. Impressed. I traded in a 686 smith (newer version) and paid the difference through Buds. And I was pleased w Buds and I feel like I’ve gained a finer tuned revolver. Although I would like the 7 round capacity of the 686, I have to say the trigger on the python is much better to get quicker rapid succession groups. Why? The python doesn’t have the same stack or stages in the trigger (not literally as I have no mechanical knowledge of this things) but in the feel of the trigger pull. The python is much smoother and lighter on the pull. My only gripe is the grip is a 2 finger grip leaving the pinky hanging off. I will change them to a full grip as that’s what I prefer. The tritium front sight is a great bonus and I am liking it.

Ordered this revolver Thursday night and was at my local FFL Monday morning. The Combat Elite was better than I was expecting. The front night sight is excellent and the rear sight is tight without movement from shooting. Great improvement from my 4.25” Python. This revolver is truly carry capable.
