The Colt SMG fires from a closed bolt, is equipped with a collapsible buttstock, and is easily field stripped without the need of any special tools. The straight-line construction, coupled with the low recoil of 9mm ammunition, provides highly accurate fire with less muzzle climb, especially in full automatic fire. Less recoil also facilitates ease of training and improves accuracy. Finally, operation and training for the Colt 9mm SMG is similar to that for the Colt M16A2/A4 Rifle, Colt M4 Carbine or Colt Commando Carbine, simplifying user training substantially.

Update to my previous review-rifle functions as it should after its trip back to Colt. I had it back from their service dept. in less than 30 days, and they reimbursed me for half of my shipping cost. I really like the rifle, with cheap ball ammo I was getting groups in the 2 inch range at 50 yards, standing unsupported. Its a keeper.

I've been wanting one of these for awhile, finally got around to ordering one. Received it in new condition in sealed box. I was going to use this carbine for some local carbine matches. Well, when I went to the range to sight it in, I loaded 20 rounds of new Federal FMJ up, chambered a round, and...click. Chambered another...click. 19 out of 20 didnt fire due to light primer strikes. Some of the primers appeared untouched. So, lets try Winchester ammo. I knew it wasnt the ammo but benefit of the doubt, right? Same result, regardless of ammo used. Called Colt, they said "ship it back". Fine. They dont pay for shipping, even though its a brand new rifle. $78 and change out of my pocket shipping a new gun back for repairs. I asked the service dept at Colt if they test fire their products before shipping. He said "Yes, we test fire our rifles" That's not true in the case of MY rifle. It was factory new without a scratch on the hammer face, no sign of brass marking the bolt, no powder residue, nothing. I currently own 6 AR rifles, and have owned many others in the past. I'm not new to the platform. I've NEVER sent an AR back to the factory for repairs. As a matter of fact, from all the handguns and rifles, and shotguns I own the only one(other than Colt) I've sent back was a Kel Tec, they paid shipping both ways. I'm very disappointed with Colt right now. I will update this review when I get my rifle back, I am requesting reimbursement for shipping from Colt.
