I have enjoyed this very much and the only objection I have is the cheap safety they have added. I find it shoots to point of aim and have had no problems with it. For the price I think it a very good buy!

So here’s the good news bad news on this rifle. Good news. -Mechanicaly excellent. Accurate, cycles well, good blueing. -Getting the stevez guns ejector spring really slicks it up. -Also get the Stevez stainless steel mag plug and trigger screw so you can use a single point sling helps. Bad news -When I disassembled it for a detail cleaning the forearm was rough. Like the top half was splinters rough. It still installs just fine and was tight. And if it really bothered me I could always get a forearm and stock blank and make another wood set as a project. I just expected better from a factory gun. Conclusion. It’s a great little gun for the price and with a few mods it really shines. I would buy it again.

The rifle came into my dealers and when I opened the package I was amazed at the rust all along forearm, tangs and buttplate. I called buds and they sent another rifle. It too had rust along forearm and buttplate but not very bad. I took off forearm and cleaned the rust off. Very slight pitting under woodbine. Seems the wood is finished on the gun and this causes the rusting. It cleaned up good. I am very happy with the fast service bud gave me. A little elbow grease and its ready for the woods.

I am very pleased with this rifle. It's a little rough around the edges, but a real bargain for the money.

Unlike many shooters, I have been lucky enough to own Winchester 1892's in 45 Colt from both Miroku and Rossi. I sold the Miroku because of its excess of modern additions. The Rossi is very close to Browning's design, except for the coil mainspring and the manual firing pin safety. That safety is more straightforward than Miroku's, and is easy to remove if you do not want it. But it is unobtrusive and it works (it blocks the firing pin). You will need to remove it (with the ball and spring detent_plan on catching it) if you remove the firing pin for cleaning. In my case, that is very, um, difficult__the firing pin stop pin (solid_not roll_pin) did not budge the time I tried it. Still the bolt is fairly easy to clean, once you remove lever, trigger, and hammer. Replacing the trigger and hammer is tricky on both the 1892's I have owned, requiring you to take all spring pressure off the hammer to line up the hammer screw. Unlike the Miroku, you will need to use a cartridge to retain the ejector when re-installing the bolt. I needed to do a lot of smoothing of locking blocks, inner receiver, and lifter before shooting the gun. And the wood, which is quite nice and sturdy, is unfinished inside (I use olive oil). Broke it in at an indoor range off-hand at distances from 10 to 25 yards. Hitting a 6-inch round at 25 yards was not difficult (as Gian Volonte said: when a man with a rifle meets a man with a pistol...). A 16-inch barrel and 5-lb weight mean it balances perfectly. All my smoothing resulted in 0 failures using 2 different loads (American Eagle and Corbon). Very mild recoil on both, despite high energy levels. I won't be selling this one, and I am giving it 5 stars because, for the money, it is better than the Miroku (which, indeed, is machined and finished much more nicely).

Excellent service from Buds (as always), the rifle came in and I was not able to give it good going over until a couple weeks after I picked it up. During shipping one of the little moister packs must have opened and did a nice little job on the stock. Of course it does not effect the guns operation. .

Good service from Bud's. Great cowboy action gun for the money. Form, fit and function are all well above average. Good furniture. If someone is interested in the gun for Cowboy Action Competition, the action will have to be worked on to improve your speed and presentation. I consider the accuracy adequate.
