SIG SIG556 5.56 17" SWAT w/Rail - Blue/Black, 16" Barrel, Synthetic, Folding Stock

The one gun I really Really wish I didn’t sell. Especially now that they’re significantly more expensive.

To date the most reliable AR platform I own, it has never had any malfunctions at all. The only 2 things that I dont really even consider to be negatives are the weight, it is heavy and it doesn't like pro mag 40rd magazines which are junk anyway. I live in the country and use this as my varmint gun, with 62gr. rounds it is as accurate as any other rifle out there. I love it.

Excellent weapon. Only criticism is its weight; it is very, very heavy. I have an aimpoint pro with EoTech magnifier on this. I swapped out the stock using the DDLES adapter and installed a Magpul ACS-L stock. This gun is extremely reliable and shoots both brass and steel ammo with no issues. I've only shot about 500 rounds through this, but have had zero failures to fire.

I love SIG products, i have a SIG handgun and i had a chance to shoot other SIG firearms. I bought the Sig556 swat and can tell you it has earned the reputation of most reliable for a reason. Certainly they are the weapons that you can say about "To Hell and Back". This rifle very well made, very easy to clean, fun to shoot and very accurate. Some people complain that it is heavy, no it is not. I feel just fine, in addition, i put flashlight, laser and Aimpoint optics, and 3x magnifier, still not very heavy. If you want good, accurate, reliable rifle, definitely go with SIG.

Sig has had some QC issues with these rifles in the past, but so far this rifle runs awesome eats all ammo I feed it. Get a NEW 2011-2012 rifle, thats the key to quality with these guns. No malfunctions in 1000 rounds so far. I am satisfied with this gun overall. Trigger is nice as well. However they have cut corners in many areas compared to real swiss made Sig 55x series which is a shame. People would pay a few hundred more for better quality, fit and finish. There are more spot welds on the receiver in the swiss guns, the piston rod assembly is one solid piece of lathe turned steel on the swiss rifles on these it only has steel ends crimped on an aluminum oprod. The recoil spring was braided now only single strand. The rear diopter sight is ok, not near the quality of a real Sig 550 though. The biggest issue i had was that the receiver is listed a nitrided, which is a treatment done to the steel on the molecular level to resist corrosion and wear. This is false, it is not nitrided. It has a cheap ass paint on it. Paint !!! not nitrided. Just crappy paint that scratches off with any use, exposing bare metal underneath. UNACCEPTABLE. The picture on buds shows the folding/collapsible model. You will receiver just a solid folder, not a collapsible/folder. This is a good thing however, because the new non adjustable swiss stock rocks, the old collapsible folder sucked.

This Sig 556 is a new generation SWAT model with different features than the SIG Classic SWAT. It has an A2 Flash hider (not the longer flash hider shown in the picture). It has a modified gas piston rod that is now made of mostly alloy with metal ends. It does not have the three braided wire recoil spring, just the standard single wire spring. The gas tube and gas valve are no longer stainless steel. It no longer has a finger rail protecting the magazine release button from accidental magazine releases (which is a major mistake). The folding stock no longer adjusts to different lengths. The bolt carrier rails inside the receiver are spot welded once again in two places (which was how the original Classic SWAT models were attached). It now has a chrome lined barrel which is a plus over the original Classic SWAT model. Overall I think Sig has taken significant shortcuts to keep the price of this model down.
