I just received my second CZ 550 STD 308 from Buds...beautiful rifle. 180 day layaway...Thx Buds. Wood and steel, Mauser all the way. I originally was going to change out the barrel to 9.3 x 62...but such a nice barrel with quality open sights...I'm going to rechamber to 30-06 Ack Imp...that will clean out the 308 chamber nicely. I'll shoot 180's in the 308 and 200-220's in this one. Happy I could get this rifle while it was still available, It's really a shame they will not be available in the USA. Buds scored when they found these and glad I found them here.

I tried to call cz to get the scoop on these rifles as they have not been available in the United States for a long time. CZ had no idea about them. After some digging I found these were a custom run for a large distributor hence Buds was able to get them. Now the rifle...These are standard length action CZ550s built for standard length cartridges like the 30-06 and 300 Win Mag. The magazine is modified with a steel spacer to allow a short action cartridge to work. They function flawlessly. They feature Williams branded iron sights, turkish walnut oil finished lumber and the CZ single set trigger. They DO NOT have a 2 pos safety though. These are the newer style 3 position safety CZ started using around 05 or so. They come glass and pillar bedded as well as free floated. You can not buy rifles this nice any longer and sadly these are now sold out. I was lucky to purchase 3.
CZ still makes these for sale in Europe...hopefully once the failed 557 experiment is over they will resume importing these into the US.

Like all CZ’s, this is a quality firearm at a bargain price. It has a nicely finished Turkish walnut stock with cut checkering, a Mauser-type action with controlled round feed and a claw extractor, open sights for close-in hunting in woods or for when a scope fails, slots milled into the receiver to accept scope rings made especially for a CZ 550 (both fixed and quick detachable), and a longer 24 inch barrel which allows higher velocities than other .308 rifles with 22 and 20 inch barrels. I would highly recommend this firearm.

CZ is having some quality control issues on their extractors, would not pick up the round and guide it to the bolt face and would hang up prior to bolt

20% down, 90 day layaway, BOOM... Thx Buds...first time buyer from Bud's and won't be my last. Received the rifle today, excellent fit and finish, nice walnut stock, iron sights, three position safety, all steel and wood. Mauser controlled round feed...trigger has a nice crisp break...outstanding rifle. I just put a down payment on another for a custom build.

I received this gun today and must say that the pictures don't do it justice. Mine came with really dark wood that is very nicely figured. The metal finish is nice and deep as well. The rifle is all steel and wood, except for the butt plate. The gun is exactly as described except it has a three position safety rather than a two position. This is truly a well made quality gun that looks like something that would have been made years ago. CZ is top notch and so is Buds. If you want a 550 model you had better swipe one of these up. You will not regret it.

Having had very good experiences with CZ products, I wanted a 550 in 308. It didn't disappoint. Rifle was shipped very quickly, I especially appreciate Bud's checkout system which makes the purchase easier. This was also my first experience in doing a trade with Buds, and found the process very positive and uncomplicated. As for the rifle, if you are already a CZ fan, you don't need my opinion to know that these rifles aren't just an excellent value for the money, but are actually as good or better than far more expensive rifles. If you are unfamiliar with CZ rifles, all I can say is they tend to be a bit heavier, but once you buy one and start shooting it you will love it.

This rifle is exactly as specified in the description. No need to call CZ as they wouldn’t know what Bud’s has on hand anyway. The rifle is very nicely done. Looks like a European sporting Mauser from the 1930’s. It is a standard length action with the magazine modified for a short action cartridge and as a result can be a little finicky working up handloads with round nose bullets unless they are loaded long. Spitzers work flawlessly. This is a steel and walnut rifle. The only thing plastic is the butt plate. It is handy and light in the hands—very well balanced. If you want a classice, controlled feed rifle built with old world care, look no further. It’s a steal at this price. I bought 2. May buy more. When these are gone so is the standard size 550.
