Walther Arms PD380 .380 ACP 3.7" Black, Ambidestrous Safety, 9+1 - Blue/Black, 3.7" Barrel, 9+1 Rounds

When I picked this gun up for the first time it felt like it was part of my hand. When I shot it for the first time, I was impressed with the light recoil. It was a pleasure to shoot. The weight and balance of the gun makes the shooting experience a pleasure. I found the trigger to be very nice in both single and double action. I was pleased because I saw reviews that went both ways. I think the few that complained about the trigger being to heavy probably didn't have there Wheaties that day. Now for the flip side. There is no slide lock. Walther was probably trying to maintain a slim profile for carry, but I think this was a mistake. At the range you need to keep an empty mag handy in order to lock the slide back and then drop the mag for cease fire. You can also use a flag. A big deal? No, but I think a slide lock would improve this gun. Now for the safety. Even though it is ambi ( I am left handed ), it is small and it's placement on the slide means you give up control of the gun to use it. If you want to carry, this can make things difficult unless opt to leave the safety off. The last issue is the ambi mag release. On my Walther WMP there are large flippers and ambiance buttons. Love it. The PD380 has 2 small flippers. No buttons. In 2 range sessions I adapted to this, but if you have large hands, it might prove annoying. I think this gun would be more user friendly without the flippers. Just ambi buttons. I realize there may be an issue with the grip. Considering all of this, would I give up the gun? No. It's just too enjoyable to shoot. Will I carry it? The jury is still out. If Walther were to make some changes, I think this would be one of the best compact 380ACPs out there.

Great handling gun. My wife wanted something that was comfortable to shoot. And the mag spring is light enough that I don't need a loader. Walther's are expensive ( not so bad at Bud's ), but they are worth it. As for Bud's, I've bought 2 semi's from them. Paperwork was quick, friendly, accurate. Same for the shipping. NICS took longer, but then that's gov'mnt. After I've shot and carried it for awhile, I'll see if I can update this review.
