I build often with Howa barreled actions, webley Scott is imported by LSI and machined in Japan like the Howa 1500 and Weatherby Vanguard; the receiver is the same. 7-08 has become a very under appreciated cartridge lately even though it outperforms many of the current short action stars (at least for hunting). This particular barreled action has an excellent finish ,glossy black like more traditional rifle and not "tactical". It is at home in a nice piece of walnut. The trigger is good and can be upgraded with any trigger for howa/vanguard. This is NOT a hinged floorplate like the others and instead uses a drop box magazine (included) that appears proprietary - this design will require slight inletting of a stock meant for the howa/vanguard. The recoil lug and other dimensions are the same. A dremel tool and 10 minutes later it will slide in the stock for initial fitting. The bolt is jeweled and slick, with what appears to be only cosmetic differences from its siblings. I am a few projects away from test firing this action, but if it shoots like all the other models produced in the same factory, it will be excellent. The only potential issue I see is magazine related reliability, and possible restriction on COAL while handloading. Also, the latch to drop the magazine is small and likely awkward to release. We'll see when it goes together.
