For those who have this gun in FDE... what color is the barrel? The pictures on Springfield.com and here show a black barrel, but when I Googled “PI9229F” some had silver barrels. The black barrel is much nicer looking.

Dan, The barrel in this model will be black due to the Nitride finish. BARREL 4" Forged Stainless Steel w/Nitride Finish, Fully Supported Ramp. The silver barrel models do not have the Nitride treatment. This model does have the Nitride treated barrel.

This gun is a perfect size for those with smaller hands.
The trigger is one of the best I have ever used, crisp pull with minimum reset.
My only negative is with the take down instructions.
Only a small paragraph on page 42 of the instructions gave a hint on how to break the gun down.
Once located it was easy to accomplish and clean the gun

I really like 1911's and the Contour model in the dessert tan is very good looking. The trigger is very crisp with a clean break. The 9mm comes with 3 mags and it shoots very well. It fits my large hand and the weight is perfect. Springfield makes good 1911's. Great sights.
