Can you tell me what the LE signifies in Dan Wesson LE 1911…? Is this a light weight model or is this the standard 1911 Specialist model? Thanks for your help.

I’m narrowing my 1911 search to this DW specialist. However I see a CZ-USA model no. 01993, and this DW model no. 01802. Both claim to be a specialist model. Is there a difference?

When police departments approached us to build them a more reliable, durable 1911 to replace the ones they had been carrying, we developed a model just for them. The additions that made it ideal for law enforcement also make it perfect for home defense, so we gladly offer it for sale to the public.

A full-size 1911, the Specialist is chambered in .45ACP and loaded with features to satisfy a public servant?s special requirements. The forged stainless steel slide wears our popular Clark-style serrated rib with a single amber tritium dot in the rear sight and a green lamp with white target ring in front.

The frame sports an integral 1913 Picatinny, 25 LPI front strap checkering, undercut trigger guard and recessed slide stop to enable the installation of laser grips. Equipped with an ambidextrous thumb safety, extended magazine release and detachable two-piece magwell, the Specialist is operator-friendly. It is finished off with a set of G10 VZ Operator II grips that force the hand into the beavertail and hold it there.

The Specialist ships with two 8-round magazines with bump pads and is in either a matte stainless finish.

Great gun, best 1911 I own. Very tight lockup and beautiful machine work inside and out. Followed the break-in procedure with quality lube and cleaning and didn't have a single stoppage. Very first magazine was a one hole, 8 shot group. Trigger is very light, great for range work, but in my opinion a bit too light for carry, which I wasn't planning on. No complaints overall and a good deal from Bud's.

Worth Every Penny! I own/owned 1911's from all of the U.S brands, and this blows them all out of the water. This thing is just perfect. I did change the grips, but I do that to all my handguns. That's my personal taste and there's nothing wrong with the factory grips. Fit and finish is flawless. And I did receive the updated 2020 model, just in case your curious.
Follow the break in directions and you'll have no problems except how to finance the next one. Solid 10/10, I would absolutely buy this again at the QP price.

This is my first 1911 and I absolutely love it. I did a ton of research to figure out which 1911 to buy and I couldn't be more happy that I chose Dan Wesson. This gun is very well built, tight, and the trigger is amazing. I've always been a Glock guy, but now I'm hooked on 1911's. There will be a second one soon, and it too will be a Dan Wesson.
