A highly disappointing purchase. I waited 5 months for this gun to be available. It is not the quality I expected it to be. The first time I took it out I realized the barrel was loose. Could screw it off with your hand easily. It was sent to charter arms, and they repaired it, I believe it was a little over three weeks. I haven't taken it out since I got it back and don't intend to. Selling it as soon as possible.

I like revolvers and thought a 9mm would be fun , it is , no moon clips required, accuracy is excellent , a great gun to shoot at the range and you don't burn up the ammo like an auto . Adjustable sights work well. Get one of these and have fun.

I bought this gun for plinking at the range. I also didn't want to mess with moonclips so this gun fits the bill. I've only had a chance to shoot it once but so far I like it. Obviously it's not for concealed carry. Every couple of years I get an itch to buy a new gun and I've been watching Charter Arms since 2010 when I had the chance to speak with the owner of the company at the NRA convention in Charlotte. At that time the clip free pistol caliber revolvers were not quite ready for the market. Another reason I bought it is because I have a ton of 9mm ammo in my gun locker that I started hoarding when Obama got elected. I also thought that it might be a limited addition (I'm not sure but it's not featured on the Charter website) and also it's MADE IN THE USA. Fun Gun!

I just received this gun a few weeks ago, so the abuse review could be months or years away. This gun is rated for NO plus P loads or steel cased ammo. I had no intention of using this gun for self defense, so that is relatively unimportant for me. Shooting inexpensive ammo was important. The gun has been easy to sight in, accurate and beautifully functional right off the start. It has two coil springs to assist with ejection and found that to be 100% in my experience. The manufacturer doesn't recommend steel cased ammo, so I had some jacketed plinking ammo to begin with. It worked fine with at least 3 different brands and just to see what happened, I used 5 rounds of steel cased ammo and found it worked perfectly. The grip on this gun is smaller and reminds me of a Smith and Wesson grip on a smaller J framed revolver. We were easily able to shoot one handed and were shooting steel at 40 to 70 yards. The gun is very accurate. I had somewhat of a fear factor with this gun. Charter has a speckled past, but I will certainly say this was worth the money. Its the most fun revolver I have shot in years. I'll have to see how it lasts. Finish is OK. Certainly not very handsome compared to some guns I have. I didn't see many flaws, though, and given its price, feel it was worth it. I still want a Smith and Wesson 986, but not interested in sinking in that much money into a fun gun unless this one doesn't hold up. I prefer the lack of moon clips as well.

I wanted a revolver in 9mm that I could shoot accurately at the range. Cost was a consideration because of the economical cost of 9mm ammo. The Charter Arms Pitbull with 6 inch barrel in 9mm was the perfect choice because of it's economical price and due to the fact that it does not require moonclips to load and unload the cylinder. The cylinder has small spring loaded clips in the ejection star of the cylinder for each chamber that fit up in the beveling of the casing. So, no moonclips to deal with! Ejection works just like a regular revolver. Easy peasy! Now, the grip is somewhat small but comfortable. The long barrel does NOT make it overly heavy or imbalanced. The long barrel DOES aid in accuracy. It is also easier to keep pointed on target after each firing. The sights are pretty basic. Fixed front blade and adjustable U-notch in the rear. However there are no white dots or outline or coloring of any kind on the sights. So that is something you can address to your individual liking in the future. The trigger in single action is fantastic. Pretty smooth and minimal travel. The double-action trigger is heavy and long but not unexpected for this type of revolver and should be fairly easy to adjust with a good gunsmith. This is a 5 shot cylinder which some may find annoying but as a range pistol for my personal use, it makes no difference to me. The barrel is not lugged like the 2 inch version of the Pitbull which I can assume is to avoid making it barrel-heavy in your hand. So, it kind of reminds me of an old Ruger Security Six-type profile with the standard Charter Arms grip. I like it. I like the brushed silver (nickel?) finish as it hides all finger prints and it shoots very accurately and economically. Enjoy.
