Pretty is as pretty does. This is a good solid home protection shotgun for the price. Functions like it should. Has a smooth action and tight lockup. It ain't gonna win no beauty contest but that ain't what I bought her for. I recommend this gun to anyone looking for a hd shotgun.

Couldn't ask for more based on the price. Only complaint is the finish is pretty poor, though it is not noticeable until it's in direct light. I will put a new finish on it myself, no big deal. Took it to the range for the first time today and put 50 miscellaneous rounds down range with no real issues. Twice I needed to use a little extra muscle to eject a spent shell, but that is expected with a new pump. Shot slugs extremely accurate. I put my first 10 slugs into a hole smaller than my fist at about 15 yards. The ghost ring sights work great. For anyone wondering, this thing had no problems eating up Federal Premium Tru-Ball 1 oz. rifled slugs, Estate High Velocity 1 oz. rifled slugs, Wal-Mart (Winchester) "Military Grade" 00 buck, Nobel Sport "Law Enforcement" 00 buck, and Federal target loads. All 2 3/4 inch shells. I would recommend this shotgun for home defense for anyone on a budget. Also would make a great camp/truck gun as another reviewer mentioned. Hell, it's a shotgun, you can do about anything with it!

Good budget shotgun, decent finish, Ghost ring sight is a plus and pretty solid. Certain 870 forends will not fit without modification including the 870 tactical forend. Added a nordic components 1 shell extension and made the tube about even with the barrel. Now for a little downturn, I had this as a back up to a back up for a skeet shooting competition and owner of the two primary guns had a few problems before our flight time and the 982T went up to bat and it actually shot amazingly, I was able to place in group B in a A-F competition. However, on the last round of qualifying, before my final 2 shots the barrel link that connects the barrel to the magazine tube completely fell off. I don't know if the solder was of poor quality and the heat loosened it to the point that it separated or if it was just a bad bond to begin with. This is not a major negative for me, mainly just a minor inconvenience as I reattached it to the barrel with a strong bond and went on my merry way. Overall, great home defense/truck/beat up/camping shotgun, just don't know if it's meant to be shot continuously for an extended period of time.

A solidly built shotgun and a great deal for the price.

I have had this shotgun for about 8-months now. I have fired just about everything in it. Bird shot, buck shot, rifled slugs, etc. It has functioned 100%! The shotgun is based on the Remington 870 design. It is a very close reproduction, but the parts are not interchangeable. The finish on the "HAWK 982" is fair, but for the price is more than acceptable. The ghost ring sight system is great! This makes acquiring the target quick and accurate. The front sight does not have a white dot, but there is an indentation. You can clean the front sight and apply white nail polish with a toothpick. Try some Remington 1-oz. rifled slugs in it! You will have a blast. At 25-yards, you should get them all in a hand sized pattern. The shotgun is easy to take down and clean. The instructions do not tell you how to completely take it down. Typically this is not necessary for standard cleaning, but if you do want to, simply look at the Remington 870 manual available online. I would recommend this shotgun for recreation or personal protection. Use reduced recoil 00-buck and the kick is minimal. If you use the full power rifled slugs, be prepared! It kicks!
