gun is accurate and the fit and finish is typical Ruger quality. I bought this for a heavy hitter against large predators, but the 3 round capacity lets it down. I ended up buying a Rossi R92 in 45 colt and won’t be keeping the Ruger. I couldn’t be happier with Buds and the layaway program makes buying easy.

I had never really been interested in the .450 Bushmaster cartridge but I looked at it closer and saw it in the Ruger American bolt action platform. Now it is one of my three favorite rifles, all bolt actions. I came across some Hornady 395 grain sub-sonic rounds at a major sporting goods chain and bought a box. This is a lightweight rifle and with the Hornady round there is ZERO recoil, it never moves. I absolutely love this rifle. I know a great gunsmith and he is going to add a set of open rifle sights to it for me, no optics. I highly recommend this rifle, with supersonic and subsonic rounds, it is a versatile rifle you will enjoy.

Don't let the short size of this rifle refrain anyone from considering buying one. I hunt in tight, wooded areas and this rifle meets that need. Amazing in the deer stand or stalking. Very light weight, easy to carry. This rifle is truly a "thumper." I have harvested several deer over the years without the need for a follow up shot with this rifle. Distance from 60 yards to 150 yards. Deer went right down with the proper shot placement. It might be a bit loud, but not too intrusive. For the price, this firearm is a bargain to put meat in your freezer.

This gun shoots a 2" group off a bench at 100 yards.

Love this rifle, put a Leupold scope on it and was really impressed with the accuracy at 100yds. It does kick hard and requires padding, if your shooting a box of twenty rounds, you will definitely feel it afterwards. With the straight walled cartridge I can hunt statewide here in Michigan. Really a nice rifle that will not disappoint.

this rifle is will built,light and the butt pad handels the recoil very will. 1 moa@100 yards. very satisfied.

I purchased this rifle for hog and deer hunting. I installed a primary arms 1-4x24 scope using Leopold medium rings. It placed the optic perfect for me. I bore sighted the rifle and was dialed in at 100yds in about 3 shots. As light as this rifle is i figured the would be a sizable amount of recoil. It kicks more than a 223 but is actually very pleasant to shoot. Id compare it to maybe a 300 blackout? This rifle is definitely more noise than kick lol. It sounds like a cannon . Im very impressed with it so far.

I can honestly say I was blown away by this rifle. I purchased this as a hunting rifle for the state of Ohio and immediately fell in love with it. As soon as I received it I put a Sig Romeo 5 on top for short range shooting and quick sight aquisition that I had on one of my 10/22s. It was dead on immediately and severely punished the AR 500 steel targets I was shooting. It made some thick pieces of a dueling tree that barely move for 7.62x39 go flying. The romeo 5 held zero after 10 rounds and the bolt was smooth as butter out of the box. Now with a few houndred rounds through it the Romeo 5 is still zero. Recoil was a little less than a 12 gage but you have so much fun you don't feel it till later. Accuracy is incredible, I was hitting old pop cans at 100 yards. Plenty accurate enough for hunting. I am sure I could easily stretch that distance out with a quality scope.
In my opinion there are no cons to this rifle other than cost of ammunition. I can tell you that this rifle is easily tied as my favorite to shoot and highly recommend it. After owning it for a while I can say it is a very effective hunting tool, it destroys whatever it hits.
