Nice fit and finish. I'm glad that Colt continues to offer a series 70.

What can I say it’s an iconic Colt 1911. It looks great & goes bang every time you pull the trigger. I dressed mine up and shoot it well. If you don’t have one I highly recommend them.

This is a beautiful gun and as far as I can tell identical to my sidearm when I served as an officer in the US Navy in Vietnam. I largely purchased the pistol for nostalgic reasons but it is a hoot to shoot -- the trigger is great with what feels like a 4-5 pound pull. The recoil is also mitigated by the heft of the weapon. I have only put 100 rounds of bulk 45 ACP through the pistol thus far but with no malfunctions.

Mine had really good slide to frame fit, internal parts very well made. Feeds perfectly and has a great trigger. Fit and finish is superb. Highly recommend.

Colt 1911 70 series was another collectible I've always wanted. The 70 series differs from the 80 series model with (70 series) short trigger has a much faster firing rate than the (80 series). It uses the old model sights which I believe are built in the slide. It has no firing pin block so cleaning is much smoother since I don't have to worry about clogging up the mechanism.
Buds Layaway process was the benefits of the entire process I normally just pay the entire bill on Bud Guns but wanted to save and pay as I go. I wish I done this process on handguns costing $1000 or more. Thanks again Buds I will continue to shop with you guys. I believe the good deals on Buds has my Gun Shop dealer jeolous with a much cheaper inventory.

Absolutely beautiful firearm. It comes with 1 seven round magazine, and the sights are fixed on the slide (no dots, just steel). Transaction
with Bud's was smooth as always. Shot great right out of the box!

I haven't shot this pistol yet. I did a function check at the FFL gun shop for transfer, everything seemed to work fine, and the factory magazine worked. I have some Wilson Combat mags that I use with my other 1911 but when I used it with this pistol it won't go fully in the mag well. I have to depress the magazine release button before I can fully insert the magazine. I will call Colt to see if this issue can be fixed. I am going to shoot this weekend and will re-post any updates with my 1911.

My first 1911 was a Colt Series 70 I bought in 1979. I bought this as a nostalgic replacement. Received the pistol cleaned and took to range. For me it was accurate and easy to shoot. No malfunctions. I did have a manufacturing problem. The Slide Stop plunger is too look. Called Colt and the will fix. Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase

A beautiful work of art. I gave up my Desert Warrior to buy this pistol and I'm so happy I did. For potential buyers: Mine came in the hard blue plastic case, it came with one 7 round magazine, and the hammer is black unlike in the picture. I have zero regrets about this purchase and am very happy with the product and Bud's service.

This Colt is a fabulous gun. Shoots like a Colt 1811 should and being a series 70 it was much easier to slick up the trigger. May get another one, can never have too many Colt 1911s. 5

Ordered this Colt Series 70 for basically a safe queen. The pistol arrive very quickly thanks to BUDS. Came in the standard blue hard plastic COLT box ( NOT the Custom Shop one that they used to be shipped with ). The bluing and roll-marks are VERY nice with this pistol. Comes with 2 mags, users manual and everything you'd expect with a new pistol. I also ordered a Colt Series 80 to be my EDC 1911 as well. I highly recommend this pistol. Can't get any truer to the 1911 than the original manufacture of them :)

What can I say about this gun.... it’s a classic Colt Government Model. The gun is beautiful and shoots as well as it looks. One complaint though is that every Colt that I have handled have sharp edges. I took the edges off with fine grain sandpaper and touched it up with cold blue. I think this is a gun that all true gun lovers should own. It’s a big part of American history.

Colt makes a great 1911. I have two of these 70 series Government’s now, and they are absolutely great guns. Will likely buy a Colt National Match next

The finish is nice but that's about it, for a gun that's suppose to come out of the custom shop(hence CS at the end of it's model number)it rattled like a box of rocks! Tight fitting 1911's aren't a big deal to me but I expect better from the custom shop also they put in the wrong extractor(series 80 extractor in a series 70 gun)and it wasn't tuned, it did not feed or extract reliably. I contacted their customer service and was emailed a return label, once I hear back from them I will give an update until then hold off on buying this gun.

I never write reviews but felt compelled this time. Ordered a Colt O1991 series 80 from Buds on a Friday afternoon. By Sunday I figured I had made an egregious error and that I just might die if I couldn’t have the O1970A1CS series 70 (this product). I called Buds first thing Monday morning. They took the series 80 off the conveyor belt (it was already in process of being shipped) and replaced it with this pistol, which arrived at my FFL the very next day. Outstanding customer service. Yes I’m an idiot but they went above and beyond to help me out. As for the gun itself, I am very happy so far. It is a beautiful piece and a lot of fun to shoot. The first time I took it out, it did have one bobble over the course of 100 rounds. Hardly a big deal especially since it’s a range toy for me, but I figured I’d shoot it some more before reviewing. Took it out again today and ran another 150 or so rounds (ball ammo) through it and it functioned flawlessly. Good stuff. I needed a 1911, and it needed to be a Colt. If you’re in the same boat, get this gun.

I received my new Colt Series 70 on 6/29/30 it is a nicely made pistol no blemishes of any kind that I could fine function is great like the other Series 70 I have. However there are a couple of things that were a little disappointing about it. I have one of the older Colt 70 Series reissues from the 72B serial number range and thought that the finish on this one would would be like the 400 grit polished Blue finish on my older 72B serial number range one it was not. Colt at some point in time has changed the finish on there 70 Series pistol to a surface ground Blued finish like the type that is found on the current Series 80 Colts. You still get the short blued trigger, the blued barrel with polished chamber and the Rose Wood grips but if you are purchasing in because you like the polished finish like the original reissue Series 70 you will be disappointed. It also does not come in the Colt Custom Shop box anymore, it just comes in the Colts normal blue plastic box. Buds gets five stars for there service Colt gets 4 stars for not mentioning anywhere on there factory website that they changed the finish on their new Series 70's to a economy blue finish.

This is my 2nd. Buds was great. Had 2 small issues with this 1. First rear sight was not fully installed and strut pin was loose. These issues were easily corrected. Once on the range found the same smooth action, decent trigger, high reliability and good accuracy. Tight barrel lock up. Capable of 6" groups at 50yds.. They are a bit loose in frame slide fit, but doesn't seem to effect accuracy in an issue pistol. May aid reliability but I am used to them being a little tighter.but overall am proud to own them. I 've fired the 1st one well over 2000 rds and love shooting them. Glad I bought before the price increase.

I picked up the O1970A1CS from my FFL dealer today. It looked good though I was disappointed it wasn't shipped with the blue box from Colt Custom. Some of these models were in the past. It came in the blue plastic clam shell box with the assorted documents and two Colt branded 7 round magazines. To test the firing pin I put a pencil down the barrel eraser first and pulled the trigger. Nothing happened. Upon closer inspection I noticed the firing pin was flush with the firing pin stop. I pushed it in with a punch. When the firing pin protruded from the slide it had a white substance on it. So I removed the firing pin block and pulled out the firing pin and spring assembly. There was a lot of corrosion and crud on the firing pin and the spring. I would upload photos but that feature is not available on BGS. I took a piece of 000 steel wool and cleaned the crud from the firing pin and from the spring. I also got a Q-tip with solvent and cleaned out the cavity the firing pin goes and it was full of crud too. It appears that Colt quality assurance needs to wake up. I cannot believe this left the Colt factory in this condition. After cleaning the firing pin, spring and slide area I tested it again with the pencil. The pencil shot across the room. That was probably $100 worth of gunsmithing that Colt owes me. LOL! Other than the firing pin fiasco the rest of the firearm looks great I have no doubt it will perform well at the range. DO NOT take for granted that something 'new out of the box' is in 'NEW' condition. You do not want to find out this kind of thing at the range. Even when new checkout the firearm so that you don't have issues at the range or when you need to defend yourself. Buds was great! Never and issue with them

The gun is absolutely gorgeous. Everything is nice and tight, no rattles. The slide and trigger function smoothly. Just waiting for a nice day to take it out on the range.
