This is the third gun I've purchased from Bud's and as usual the shipping time, delivery and condition of the gun were superb. Bud's is a pleasure to deal with and they always come through with exactly what I order. They are my firearm dealer of choice because of their outstanding customer service and thier prices. As for the 1911 I ordered, it was flawless and exactly what I expected.

Fantastic firearm. Colt is truly the standard by which others are graded, but I should note that the pistol I received did not have the same finish as the one shown in the description but this turned out to be a blessing in disguise as I like the darker finish even more.

Buds is quickly becoming my favorite place to purchase what I want in firearms. I have been wanting a basic Colt 1911A1 for a very long time and I am not disappointed in this purchase at all. The fit and finish were good, the parts fit pretty close for a production weapon and functioning has been flawless with round nose, jacketed hollow points and lead semi wad cutters. The only changes I have made to it since picking it up was to fit and install a flat bottomed firing pin stop and an EGW angle bore bushing. The factory bushing had a total of .006" play between the bushing and the slide and the barrel and bushing ID. The EGW bushing is easy to order, with a drop down menu to size the bushing properly. Make sure you take accurate measurements before you order! With the changes I have made, this Government Model will run step for step with my Gold Cup National Match out to 20 yards or so, where the NM begins to best it. That might be my ageing eyes more than the pistol itself. The Series 80 lockwork has been very much improved, with polished linkage parts as compared to the rough stanped parts of the early models. I cannot tell the difference in the trigger pull with the parts in or out, and like the idea of a drop safety. Some will spend the extra money for a Series 70 more because of what they have heard than experienced. True, it does make for some interesting contortions reassembling after a frame strip, but its not that hard. If the Series 80 system bothers you all that much, get this pistol with a simple spacer easily installed and save a lot of money in the process. Great pistol and my EDC. I trust my life with it if that is any recommendation at all.

It is a COLT 1911. Plain, no frills. That is what I like about it, and the reason I purchased it. I narrowed it down between the Springfield and this one, and I am happy with my choice. Got it when price was lower and a rebate from Colt put it at $604 total. No complaints there, Trigger is pretty nice out of the box, shoots well (soda can at 45 yards within a magazine). Fit and finish is very nice, nothing fancy. I found the grips to be the weak point for me - the checkering is very aggressive, and digs into the webbing of the shooting hand after a while. This is the one reason my wife does not enjoy shooting it as well. My only other complaint is that it is very hard not to scratch the finish when reassembling - putting the slide catch back in position. I just hate to mar such a pretty gun. Very nice looking in an understated way, and feels nice other than the stated sharp checkering on the grips. Series 80 doesn't bother me a bit - why would you not want to have a firing pin block?

Picked up my Colt 1911, it was pretty dirty. Took it home and upon further inspection, the barrel had a horrible chip on the end. Shame on Colt for allowing this to pass quality control. Bud\'s was excellent on hooking me up with Colt support and I am getting a new barrel sent. The gun bluing was a lot darker than I expected but it looks very nice. Overall the gun is excellent but a cracked barrel should never have passed quality control hands down. With so many others making 1911, Colt should be held to a higher standard with the \"Original\" 1911.
