Ok, I'm no weapons expert, but used to own a Charter Arms AR-7 when I served in the U.S. Army long ago, It was a good rifle, this Henry version, however, I personally think it is rife with design flaws and I'm surprised no one has called them out for it. First, the notch where the receiver slides into the stock, it is not symmetrical. That is, there is more stock on one side of the receiver than the other. I like my guns to be balanced, when you sight down the barrel the gun should not look like it's crooked or cocked at an angle. This design flaw is in all the rifles. And I could live with that, but....... On my rifle the hi-vis plastic front site is canted in the 5:30 position, with the top of the site in the middle of the clock and the bottom of the site at 5:30. And the site slides in and out of the notch too easily, I'm not sure if this site is designed to adjust for windage or not. I don't like it, too much slop. The rear site can be adjusted for elevation. All in all, MY rifle is useless outta the box unless you mount a scope.

I recently bought another AR-7 to replace one that was lost during a divorce. I always liked it for it's reliability, ease of operation and size, but after re-attaching the scope I had, an old 4x, I realized; this rifle is made for a left-handed shooter! Just look at the gun: the slot in the handgrip that the receiver sets in has to be to one side or other of the centerline, because the tip of the barrel stores there when collapsed, Why it's pushed to the right of center, instead of the left of center, I don't know; all it serves to do is to put the center of sighting farther away from the shooters right eye. As is, I have to rotate the rifle CCW 40 or so degrees to get the cross hairs in front of my eye. I know that Eugene Stoner designed this masterpiece of simplicity; I just wondered if he were a Southpaw or not...

A great rifle. Simple, straightforward, accurate and reliable. Just today at the range I discovered a problem people should be aware of. This is a takedown rifle. The stock and receiver/barrel are held together by a single long screw. This long screw has a plastic knob on the stock end that you turn to screw the parts together. The knob is held onto the screw by a metal pin which threads through both pieces.. You guessed it: The pin came out spontaneously, rendering it impossible to hold the two main pieces together. I had to first find the tiny pin, then at home, put the pin back through the knob and screw without utterly going mad. I did it, but my family may have learned a few new cuss words.

Top notch service from Buds once again and excellent rifle as well. This was my second firearm from Buds and I will continue to give them my business. Shipped quickly to my FFL. Took the new rifle to the range and put just a little over 250 rounds through it the first day. Only had 1 failure-to-feed on the very first magazine and can easily attribute this to the "break in" period. After that...flawless! Owners manual says high velocity, but I put several different types from HP's, high velocity, std velocity....it took everything I gave her and kept shooting VERY accurately. First time buying a Henry and had high expectations out of the gate... And they were met. My only complaint is that bright orange plastic front bead. Highly recommend this rifle to anyone.

Was pleasantly surprised with the performance. Thought the rifle would jam if I didn't use high velocity CCI ammo but shot Remington Viper 36 grain / 1410 fps and Remington 225 36 grain / 1280 fps ammo with NO FTF or FTE. Tight shot group at 25 yards. Henry did a good job with improvements. The trigger is stiff but hey, it's a survival weapon and I'm confident I can hit small game to feed my family if it came down to it. I'd recommend this rifle!
