This was a replacement of my first Marlin Model 60 that I stupidly sold over 20 years ago. Too bad reviews cannot show the huge grin on my face as this is like reunited with a long lost friend. There are a few things that I do not like about this gun, but they are minor and most people buying this gun will most likely be aware of them before they purchase the gun anyway. First is when you have a jam, and you will, to clear anything quickly you need to loosen the spring loaded guide rod. If you have a number of rounds left in the tube this means that even with the safety on you pretty much expose your hand to the end of the barrel. The other way to clear a jam involves cycling the bolt but this does not always work well and often clears one jam and replaces it with another. This is true of all tube fed guns that I have seen. Another issue is that I am left handed and my right hand can lightly touch the action. That is NOT an issue with the gun, just something that lefties using this gun need to remember. I really cannot think of any more negatives other than the sites are minimal and Marlin does not give you a life time warrantee like many competitors. The positives are that this is a REAL rifle. It feels real, it shoots real. That may sound like a dumb statement but many .22 rifles do not feel like a full sized rifle in size and weight. The Marlin Model 60 feels like a rifle that could be chambered in a much larger caliber. Of course once you pull the trigger it feels like a .22 meaning you can shoot it all day for a few dollars and not feel beat up. This rifle will feed pretty much any .22 LR ammo you have except Marlin recomends jacketed ammo use to the micro groves. I took it to the range today and put over 100 rounds down range. The first rounds 50 rounds were CCI Stingers. Not an issue at all. I then switched to bulk ammo, Remington Golden Bullets. Out of the 50 or so I shot I have one failure to eject but that round felt really weak and one failure to fire but after examination of that round the firing pin strike was solid so both issues can be chalked up to the ammo. If you want a solid .22 that you can pass down for generations the Marlin Model 60 is a fantastic gun!

One of the classic forms for a .22 rifle. The rifle is an excellent shooter, with or without a scope. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a .22.

It is a good, reliable, accurate rifle. I have shot dozens of rounds and no jam at all. The only down side is that it is a little inconvenient if you want to mount a scope on the rifle, or if you want to mount a bi-pod stand.

Nice looking 22LR in a wood stock. I had problems with 22's ejecting no matter what brand I used. I called Marlin and they paid the cost to ship it back to them. They put a whole stainless steel ejector unit in the gun and allowed me to keep the old ejector. I figured the problem out with the old ejector as to a defective spring and repaired it. They were good people to deal with and I would not hesitate to purchase another Marlin again because they take care of their customers.
