Sure glad I opted to go with the walnut version 783, it's like night and day over the synthetic. Of course it's almost a couple of hundred dollars more but in my opinion well worth every penny. Fit and finish are flawless, the stock looks much better than any photos I'd seen and mounted on top is a Vortex crossfire II 3-9x40mm scope turning this "budget" gun into an awesome rifle. I zeroed in at 100 yards with 150gr ammo, trigger is perfect and felt recoil is almost nonexistent, bolt action is smooth as expected. The Vortex scope is very bright and easy to adjust.....very nice scope. Overall this is a much nicer gun than I expected, looks great and shoots even better, I would recommend this rifle to anyone. Very well worth the extra money, you get what you pay for and sometimes, as in this case, you get even more. Great rifle!

Solid gun for a great price. I shot steel case as well as hunting rounds through this and both were handled quite well by it. The scope is great!

I’ve loved my other versions of the 783 so I decided to get this walnut version in the .308 caliber! The stock is more beautiful in person, pictures don’t do it justice. And the rigidity of the stock and receiver are amazing! This is an incredible buy as the MSRP for this rifle scope combo is $650+. The price at buds gun shop being $506 is astounding. The walnut 783 without a scope MSRP is $499, so this buy from buds is an real find! The scope is a Vortex Crossfire II 3-9x40mm which is perfect for this rifle. Whether you are going to be hunting or target shooting, it’s the perfect setup for someone who is either entry level user or more of an expert level shooter. I’ve own and shoot many rifles. The Remington 783 in my opinion is the closest to a Remington 700 they’ve ever came with their so called budget rifle line. The button barrel and the inter changeable barrel make this a easy to mortify rifle chassis. Not to mention the adjustable tigger. This rifle is easily worth twice what they sell it for and will not just be another rifle in your collection. It will be one of your go to Weapons of choice. I used Winchester 150 grain .308 silver ballistic tips. Each deer I’ve taken with this rifle and ammo combination didn’t even run. They fell exactly where I shot them. I always place my shot in the front shoulder just far enough back to hit the limb and penetrate the heart/lungs. It’s a hard hitting ammo with great expansion. These rounds are the closest you’ll see to reload quality from a shelf. I highly recommend these rounds used in conjunction with the Remington 783
