[22553] is the perfect rifle. Extremely accurate shooter. Scope comes already sighted in. You will have to manually sight it in. Beautiful finish and a great value from Bud's. I highly recommend this product and Bud's.

Savage makes a quality rifle at an affordable price and they are extremely accurate out of the box.

First keep in mind that these are inexpensive hunting rifles. That said with a little tweak here and polish there Savage makes real shooters. This won't be a 1000 yard rifle but still good to around 400. I fire lapped mine which made break-in easy and tightened the groups too. This won't be an heirloom or probably worth replacing the barrel when worn but is still a good purchase for general use. The Savage triggers are generally much better than the other guys, the wood stock isn't cabinet grade walnut but is still way more solid than synthetic and the action well placed. Mine is a little picky about ammunition and took some testing to find the right load (won't give any hints as they are all different) but that is half the fun. Overall a very good buy for it's intended purpose.

If you need a good deer rifle, this is a good one. Great shooting rifle.

Completely satisfied.. I paid $371 for the gun and mounted a $220 Nikon Prostaff 4-12 on it. The only reason I bought this gun was for a bet with a longtime friend on who had the most accurate gun at 500 yards (at the time I had never shot a rifle at that distance). My friend had wrapped up close to $3200 on a "higher end" .308 gun and scope. My Savage and scope were under $600. While I lost the bet by 1/2" on a 3 shot group, I proved you don't need to spend big $$ to get good accuracy at 500 yards, you just need to buy a Savage. This is my third one and all three have been incredibly accurate out of the box.

Beautiful rifle. The only issue I ran into is that Savage Arms sent the wrong scope and when I contacted them they game me the ruin around. After them seeing I wasnt letting up they finally "found" the correct scope and shipped it. But as usual, Bud's is awesome.

I am surprised on how good the scope is. It took me about 7 shots to configure the scope but now ever shot is dead-on. I can't wait for hunting season!

I had an Axis with a "plastic" stock and it had more flex that a fly fishing rod. I bought this through Buds with the hope the wood stock would be stiffer. The transaction was fast and worry free. After putting about 50 rounds through it including a break-in period it is right now at best a 2 minuet angle rifle. I did find out the flexy plastic stocked rifle needed 50 rounds of break-in before it settled in. I am hoping this one will break-in soon and settle in at less than 2 minuet of angle. Savage has a good reputation for accuracy, I hope this rifle will hold up to that reputation, right now 3.5 to 5 inch groups at 200 yards does not work for me. My sniper rifle will shoot 2 or less inch groups all day long as long at 200 yds as I read the wind well.

THE MORNING OF 1/16/17 I ORDERED A SAVAGE AXIS II XP 308 WITH A SYNTHETIC STOCK A ABOUT 9:00 AM.LATER I LEARNED THE SAME RIFLE WAS AVAILABLE WITH A WOOD STOCK .ABOUT A HOUR LATER I CALLED BUDS TO SEE IF I COULD CHANGE THE ORDER TO THE WOOD STOCK. THE STAFF AT BUDS WAS VERY GOOD AND ALLOWED THE CHANGE. I RECEIVED THE RIFLE ON THE 1/19/17. VERY GOOD SERVICE. BUDS HAS A LARGE INVENTORY AND IT IS EDUCATIONAL TO STUDY THE ITEMS AND READ THE REVIEWS.THE RIFLE WAS AS REQUESTED IN EVERY WAY, THIS WAS NOT MY FIRST PURCHASE FROM BUDS AND LIKE ALL THE OTHERS IT WAS HANDLED IN A VERY PROFESSION MANNER. I AM QUITE PLEASED TO TRADE WITH BUDS. BOB
