Had zero misfires so far....only shot about 40 rounds.....ammo is great!

Good ammo for fun or practicing with it

Can't argue with Federal quality ammo. This is my go-to brand.

Ran a few hundred rounds through a never before used AR-15 pattern rifle recently, flawless performance! I did not shoot for accuracy or consistency at distance, so I cannot speak to those concerns. However, for reliability these rounds have me convinced. Federal is typically my first choice for 9mm and 12ga, and now it is for .223 as well.

I recently purchased a new AR .556/.223 w/a 1/8 twist and bought and a few boxes of this ammo to see how it liked this chewing through it. At 50 yards (w/ flip up OEM iron sights) 15 rnds later I was shooting 1”-1/2” inch groupings my first time out. I then installed a 4MOE Reddot, visually bore sighted at 50 yards and after 15-20 rounds had it centered in a 1/2”-1/8th” groupings. I then added a 3x magnifyer behind it, took it out to 100yrds (w/ no scope adjustments to see how it would hold) and was consistently was making 2 inch groupings. For a midrange 4MOE Reddot I was happy with that. I have used Fed A.E. ammo in a number of other long rifle calibers but never .223 155 grain. Needless to say I bought a case a few days later. Buds great pricing, quick shipping, and most importantly extremely accurate for my platform/setup I will be sticking w/ Fed American Eagle ammo for the range and plinking around. 5 thumbs up. I'm a recreational non-completive shooter but after reading briefly about this kind of FMJBT, used for competition, all my 16" AR-15 loves this stuff. I've yet to shoot this at 50 yards or 100 yards, but I can say without a doubt that at 25 yards, when your 3 rounds are touching or making one hole, it's pretty decent ammo. I bought a .223 Remington Wylde barrel and thought that this barrel was inaccurate. At first, it shot decent groups at 50 yards, then they were all over the place, more than 8 inches at 50 yards. I checked to see if I could shoot 5.56 NATO and it said it could. I changed out my barrels and laid the Wylde aside. I wasn't satisfied watching a barrel sit there so I got another Anderson upper, and assemble it with the .223 Wylde that I laid aside. An Anderson lower, and rebuilt everything. Then I "stumbled" onto this ammo, and like magic, the accuracy returned. I've heard it before that certain barrels love certain ammo. So far, all my barrels love American Eagle 55 Grain FMJBT. And relatively fast shipping from Buds gets me to the range when I need to go. Thanks Buds.

Excellent target ammo. Has ballistics easily matched with turret scopes and hunting ammunition. Highly recommended!
