  yes it is ca legal and by the way it does not have a 10 round limit on lever guns ✔ Rifles of any caliber with tubular magazines (e.g. lever action) may have a capacity of more than 10

• Q: Can this model use .38 special? I saw that the 16" version says both .357 mag/.38 special, but this one only says .357 mag?

  yes it will be fine with most 38 special ammo you may have feeding issues if you are using 38 special wadcutters but you will not have any issues with the standard round nose 38 ammo

  Larry, yes Sir. It is first and foremost a 357 Magnum with is a higher power round than 38 Special and 38 Special +P loads by a wide margin. No worries.
